Delete Your Recipe Scout Account

You can delete individual saved recipes while keeping your Recipe Scout account, or delete your account and its associated data directly from within the app. This page explains both options.

Delete Individual Recipe Data

To permanently delete a saved recipe without deleting your account:

  1. Open Recipe Scout and go to your cookbook.
  2. Open the recipe you want to remove.
  3. Open the recipe options menu and select Delete Recipe.
  4. Confirm the deletion.

This removes the selected recipe and its associated notes and organizational data from your account. It does not delete your Recipe Scout account. For help with a data-deletion request, email admin@recipescout.app.

How to Delete Your Account

Follow these simple steps to permanently delete your Recipe Scout account:

Open the Recipe Scout App

Launch the Recipe Scout app on your mobile device.

Navigate to the Account Page

Tap the Account icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Scroll to the Danger Zone

Scroll down to the bottom of the Account page until you see the Danger Zone section.

Click Delete Account

Tap the Delete Account button in the Danger Zone section.

Confirm Deletion

Read the confirmation message carefully, then confirm that you want to permanently delete your account and all data.

⚠️ Important: Account Deletion Is Permanent

Once you delete your account, this action cannot be undone. Your account and account-linked data will be permanently deleted when the in-app confirmation succeeds, subject to the limited retention exceptions described below.

What Gets Deleted

The following data will be immediately and permanently deleted:

  • Account Information: Your profile, account identifier, name, and email address
  • Recipe Collection: All saved recipes, cookbooks, and recipe notes
  • Tags and Categories: All custom tags and organizational data
  • Preferences: App settings and preferences

Limited retention exceptions: Anonymous aggregated search statistics are not linked to your account and are not removed by account deletion. Aggregated or de-identified analytics and transaction records may also be retained when needed for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or service-provider obligations. When Is Data Deleted?

Your account and account-linked data are deleted when the in-app confirmation succeeds. The app also clears its local account cache and resets its Firebase Analytics user association and local Analytics identifier. The limited retention exceptions described above may remain.

Important: Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered. Make sure you want to proceed before confirming.

Before You Delete

Consider these alternatives:

  • Take a Break: You can simply log out and return anytime without losing your data
  • Contact Support: If you're experiencing issues, we're here to help!

Before deleting: If you want to request a copy of your data, contact admin@recipescout.app before deleting your account. Once deleted, your recipes and account data cannot be recovered.
